Our customer had a Dual 15kV switch that had been taken out of service for several years after the switches had been removed.

Also, the switch did not comply with the MSHA requirement to have switch blades visible, allowing an operator to determine if the circuit was open of closed.

The rebuild process included:

• Modified switch mounts for the new ABB VersaRupter 15kV Switches
• Modified doors to include viewing windows
• Sandblasted and powder coated entire unit (Safety Yellow)
• Installed new switches, 15kV cabling, insulators, entry cable strain relief and new external ground
• Drew equipment schematic with laminated hard copy for the unit
